Polish Presidency Day

The Polish Presidency Day was co-organized by the European Union Center of California and the Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Los Angeles. This day long event consisted of two activities: a simulation game and the bi-annual State of the European Union Address.

The simulation game “Decision Making in the EU” included the participation of students from Professor David Andrews’ politics course at Scripps College. Students were assigned country roles and simulated negotiations at the COREPEL and COUNCIL levels. The theme of this conference was “Ensuring energy security.”

The State of the EU Address was delivered by Ambassador Kozinska-Frybes, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Los Angeles. She delivered the address on “Europe united or divided? Perspectives on the EU from the Polish presidency.”

State of the EU Addresses

For some time now it is has been our tradition to invite the Consul General of the Presidency State to deliver a “State of the European Union Address” during the appropriate semester. The purpose of this event is to brief students and faculty from the Claremont Colleges, and members of the Los Angeles consular community, on the priorities of the country holding the Presidency of the European Union Council, and to provide an assessment of the current situation. These events are free and open to the public.
