Visiting Faculty and Scholars The European Union Center of California is pleased to host European Union Fellows, EU Officials based as Scripps College for up to one year. The Fellows teach undergraduate courses at Scripps College on EU themes, and give frequent outreach talks at the Claremont Colleges. these visitors enrich the European Studies program and the Claremont Colleges' academic environment through their teaching, research, and outreach. The Center is unable to fund post-doctoral or other research positions.

Mr. George Paterson is a European Union Center Fellow from the European Commission in Brussles, Belgium. During his Visit to Scripps College, Mr. Paterson wil co-teach Dr. David Andrews' class Politics 119B "Public Policy in the European Union: Membership and Budget."
Mr. Paterson has been working in the EU institutions since 2000, firstly at the European Court of Auditors in Luxembourg (firstly auditing EU revenue, and then working in the External Relations dept) before transferring to the European Commission in 2006 to the Budget directorate, where he dealt with expenditure on the EU's regional policy. Prior to that, he obtained a diploma in EU Studies at the University of Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium.
